itel Hikes Up Recruitment in Jamaica

September 17, 2022

Company sets hiring target of 1500 new people over the coming 4 weeks

(Jamaica, August 29, 2022), Weeks after launching a 90,000 sq. foot facility at its Chalmers site in Kingston, international award-winning customer experience (CX) provider, itel, is embarking on a massive recruitment campaign. Over the coming 4 weeks, the company is set to hire 1,500 new employees across its three Jamaica sites in both Montego Bay and Kingston.

This large-scale talent search will enable the company to meet the needs of its retail, travel, and hospitality clients, who are in preparation for their busiest season of the year. As large international brands grapple with ongoing labor shortages, especially across the U.S., their need for nearshore outsourcing services is skyrocketing. Now more than ever they are looking to Jamaica, and other key spots in the Caribbean, for their customer experience delivery. As a result, the local global services market is expected to bring US$1 Billion into the economy by the end of 2023, with itel taking a lead role in this push.

To meet the demand, itel is working with their clients to fill critical positions, such as Sales Agents, Tech Support and Customer Service Representatives. These roles often serve as a brand’s first point of contact across telephone, chat and email services. Over the months of June and July alone, the company hired over 400 new employees in Montego Bay.

"We started 10 years ago with 7 employees and this year reached 7,000. This was not achieved by sitting back and letting opportunities for our company and our team slip through the cracks,” stated Yoni Epstein, Founding Chairman and CEO. “Right now, our clients are counting on us to find the best talent across the island, and we are ready to meet the challenge.”

For many young Jamaicans looking to build a lasting career, these roles act as launch points for progression into supervisory and management positions or into business support departments, such as HR, IT, Marketing and more. Applicants with the right mindset and skills can apply, even with limited experience and qualifications. They are given the opportunity to gain financial independence with a competitive salary and benefits, including health and life insurance, monthly incentives, savings schemes, plus an onsite gym, and recreation facilities. This is coupled with technical training and ongoing learning and career advancement opportunities.

itel will be hosting a series of recruitment activities over the period. Despite operating in a highly competitive industry, the company continues to remain distinctive by constantly maintaining a steady increase in the growth of its workforce and dynamic corporate culture. By building state-of-the-art facilities and providing ongoing training and development,  itel consistently provides employment and career opportunities in the local market.
